Mintra acquires online maritime training firm Seably

Norwegian provider of digital learning and human capital management systems, Mintra, has acquired Swedish online maritime training firm Seably.

The Bergen-based firm said the move highlights its “accelerated growth” in the global maritime sector and is the next step in the strategic goal of rapid market share increase.

“This is a significant milestone for our business, one of many to follow, and a testament to the rapidly growing business which we are building,” noted Kevin Short, CEO of Mintra.

The purchase price is based on an enterprise value of around SEK79.7m ($7.4m) and an equity value of SEK65m ($6m). The deal includes digital platform WellAtSea, that focuses on health and well-being solutions for seafarers and which Seably bought in 2022.

Seably was founded in 2017 together with The Swedish Shipping Association and today hosts over 700 maritime courses. The acquisition is expected to close in August or September this year.

Andrea Lodolo, CEO of Seably, added: “Today’s announcement is the result of the hard work and dedication of everyone at Seably as well as the support of our loyal client base. We are certain that our organisation and products will benefit from joining Mintra, and by aligning our visions we can grow the combined maritime market share more effectively. This is a smart move for Seably.”
