MMA Offshore wins Australian research vessel deal

MMA Offshore has been appointed by the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) to manage a research vessel in a contract expected to generate $80m in revenue over four years.

The Perth-based OSV operator will provide technical services, operational management and crew management for the 2014-built Investigator.

The vessel is part of the Marine National Facility, national research infrastructure funded by the Australian Government and and commissioned by CSIRO to undertake biological, oceanographic, geological, and atmospheric research, as well as to provide maritime training, education, and outreach activities.

“This contract award marks another major milestone in our diversification strategy with
government services being a key target growth market for MMA,” said David Ross managing director at MMA.

The deal includes two three-year extension options.
