New Dayang wins ultramax orders

Chinese builder New Dayang has secured orders for ultramax bulk carrier newbuildings from China Construction Bank (CCB) Financial Leasing.

The deal covers two firm vessels of the Crown 63 Plus design which will be operated by Bohai Shipping (Hebei) after delivery, starting in late 2026.

The shipbuilding arm of state-run machinery manufacturer Sumec Group based in Jiangsu has also renewed a letter of intent with Bohai Shipping for two more ultramaxes of the same design.

Sumec, which took over Dayang Shipbuilding in 2018, said the latest order takes its backlog to 63 ships with production set to the fourth quarter of 2027.
