New extension keeps Petrofac working on BP’s North Sea assets

Offshore engineering specialist Petrofac has been awarded a contract extension by energy supermajor BP for continuing support across its North Sea portfolio.

Petrofac said that it would be providing maintenance and engineering services under the terms of a three-year, multi-million-dollar contract.

In the North Sea, BP is the operator of the Clair Phase One project, Clair Ridge, Glen Lyon, the currently shut down Foinaven field, Eastern Trough Area Project or ETAP, and Andrew.

As for non-operated interests, BP holds stakes in the TotalEnergies Culzean development and Ithaca Energy’s Vorlich field, both in the Central North Sea.

“Petrofac has supported BP in the North Sea for 15 years. This award is a testament to delivering shared goals of increased efficiency and asset life extension,” said Nick Shorten, COO of Petrofac’s Asset Solutions business.

The two recently signed a new deal outside the North Sea. In January, Petrofac won a new contract from BP to provide operations services for the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim liquefied natural gas project in Mauritania and Senegal.

The award followed two contracts secured in 2021 and 2022 for operational procedures and operation services for the floating production storage and offloading vessel and liquefied natural gas hub, respectively.
