New Korean engine brand unveiled

Hanwha Ocean, the Korean yard formerly known as Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, has unveiled a new subsidiary, Hanwha Engine, having completed the takeover of compatriot HSD Engine.

Among a range of products the new entity will work on developing are ammonia-powered engines. 

“By adding Hanwha Engine to its list of affiliates following the acquisition of Hanwha Ocean last year, Hanwha is fully equipped to provide total shipbuilding solutions including engine production with in-house manufacturing and technology capabilities,” the group stated in a release yesterday.
