NYK seals LNG newbuild charter with JERA

Japanese shipping line Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) has sealed a long-term charter deal with compatriot JERA for one LNG carrierto be built in South Korea.

The Tokyo-headquartered behemoth has fixed a 174,000 cu m unit scheduled for delivery from Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries in 2027.

The deal is the eleventh LNG carrier charter NYK secured with Japan’s largest utility.

NYK has a massive LNG carrier orderbook of nearly 40 ships spread across Chinese and South Korean yards, of which seven are listed at Hyundai Samho.
