Pertamina back at Hyundai Mipo for LPG carriers

Indonesia’s Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) has gone to Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in Ulsan for a pair of 23,000 cu m LPG carrier newbuilds.

Brokers have placed Pertamina behind the 18,000 dwt units which the shipbuilder said in a stock exchange filing are worth around $129.5m in total.

The LPG dual-fuel newbuilds are scheduled for delivery in the second and third quarters of 2026. 

Earlier this year, the shipping arm of the Indonesia’s top energy producer signed for 15 MR product tankers at Hyundai Mipo, delivering in 2026. 

The tanker giant also has plans to boost its fleet of very large gas carriers (VLCGs) by six ships this year and is exploring going public next year to generate funds for its ambitious fleet expansion.
