Proposed Oregon LNG terminal dropped for lack of funding
Leucadia National Corporation on Monday withdrew its plan for a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminal on the Oregon coast for lack of funding, according to The Daily Astorian.
The Oregon LNG project is one of several proposed LNG terminals in the state (among many more around the US coast) and had been a source of opposition from local residents and environmentalists.
The $6.3bn Oregon LNG project planned for near Warrenton on the Skipanon Peninsula would have had liquefaction capacity of 9m metric tons per year. Construction was expected to begin next year.
New York-based Leucadia National Corporation made only a terse official statement that it was ceasing operations and said it would have no further comment.
