Ray Car Carriers splurges $268m on pair of Korean newbuilds

Ray Car Carriers has boosted its orderbook with two more newbuilds contracted in South Korea.

The Abraham Rami Ungar-controlled owner has returned to Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in Ulsan for a 7,500 ceu pair, delivering by May 2028.

The order worth about $268m follows four 7,700 ceu LNG capable units booked last year, with delivery due across the second half of 2026 and first half of 2027 at $129.5m each.

The tonnage provider, which counts around 60 car carriers on the water, now has 10 newbuilding projects spread across Hyundai Mipo and Hyundai Samho for delivery between 2025 and 2028.
