Reach Subsea scores new offshore wind contract

Oslo-listed offshore services player Reach Subsea has been awarded a five-month contract with an undisclosed offshore wind energy major.

The deal, which comes with options, will see the subsea vessel Deep Cygnus utilised on the project, in early May 2023. Reach last summer signed an agreement to charter the ship for four years with an option to extend for one year. The 2009-built multipurpose support vessel (MPSV) is set for battery installation during the winter season and be ready for the 2024 season with a significant reduction in fuel consumption and new subsea equipment.

In February, Reach also chartered in the 2007-built MPSV Olympic Triton for up to five years to cover another project in the offshore wind sector. The contract, which kicks off in the first quarter of this year, is for six months firm, with extension options attached to the deal.

“The offshore wind market will be a great driver for Reach Subsea in the years to come, and the growth has just started. We are proud to once again have been given the trust form a tier one renewable energy company to deliver high-end services. The Deep Cygnus vessel has performed well in the renewables segment for many years, and we are happy for the continuation as part of the Reach Subsea fleet, said Jostein Alendal, CEO of Reach Subsea.
