Samsung hit by another drillship delay

Samsung Heavy Industries has been hit by another owner delaying delivery of a pricey drillship.

Sources tell Splash the owner in question is Ocean Rig, which has delayed the Ocean Rig Santorini by 18 months from its original date of December 15 this year. The seventh generation drillship was ordered two years ago. As a result of the delay the contract value has increased to KRW 709.3bn ($599m) from KRW 610.3bn.

Ocean Rig has earlier this year delayed delivery of two other drillships at the same Korean yard.
