Sapura forms decommissioning joint venture

Malaysian offshore services provider Sapura Energy and AF Offshore Decom, part of Norway’s AF Gruppen, have joined forces to target the increasing demand for offshore decommissioning services in Southeast Asia.

A joint venture called Kitar Solutions was recently presented in Kuala Lumpur with the aim of simplifying the decommissioning process through integrated engineering, preparations, removal, and disposal (EPRD) services.

The jv will combine Sapura’s heavy lift assets and fabrication yard in Lumut with AF Offshore’s decommissioning track record in the North Sea over the last two decades.

“With Kitar Solutions, we are positioned to provide exceptional decommissioning services across the APAC region, ensuring adherence to the European Union’s rigorous environmental and social governance standards,” the companies said.
