SITC continues fleet growth, acquiring SBT pair

Chinese intra-Asia containership operator SITC has acquired two second-hand 2,524 teu containerships to further expand its fleet.

According to broking sources, SITC has acquired the 2002-built pair Wehr Trave  and Wehr Warnow from Hamburg-based SBT Shipping. The selling price is $3.9m each vessel.

In January, SITC chartered the 4,620teu RHL Constantia from Reederei Hamburger Lloyd for a period of one to three months. The ship is the largest container vessel ever chartered by SITC.

SITC runs a fleet of 76 container vessel with total capacity of 104,473 teu.
