Solstad buys back CSV in $4m deal

Norwegian offshore vessel owner Solstad has exercised its option to purchase the construction support vessel Normand Tonjer for $4m.

The 2010-built unit was sold to a vehicle called Mpsv for $10m in 2021 and leased back on a bareboat agreement for a firm three-year period with options for two one-year extensions and a purchase option at the end of the second year into the charter.

“We are very pleased to acquire CSV Normand Tonjer at what we believe are favorable terms for a vessel of such capabilities,” says Lars Peder Solstad, CEO of Solstad.

The vessel-owning vehicle is owned 55% by Solstad with remaining ownership held by external shareholders. It is part of the company structure that is 100% controlled by Solstad RemainCo under the refinancing agreement announced in October this year.

The vessel has been supporting ocean bottom node seismic operations working for Magseis Fairfield since 2018.
