Solvang orders VLGC trio in South Korea

Norwegian gas shipowner Solvang has placed an order at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries for the construction of three 88,000 cu m LPG carriers.

In a regulatory filing last week, the holding company of the South Korean yard, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE), said the European owner had booked the gas carrier trio for delivery by December 2026.

Multiple brokers placed Stavanger-based Solvang behind the deal, worth around $320m.

VesselsValue data shows that in addition to the three scrubbed-fitted VLGC newbuildings, costing $106.65m each, Solvang’s owned fleet currently stands at 22 ships.
