Stena Drilling scores drillship contract in Morocco

Stena Drilling, the Aberdeen-based business of Sweden’s Stena, has signed a contract for up to two wells offshore Morocco.

London-listed Energean has booked the 2009-built drillship Stena Forth, following the farm-in to Chariot’s acreage offshore the North African country.

The sixth-generation dual-activity harsh environment rig, which has been working for Shell in the Egyptian sector of the Mediterranean Sea, has been fixed for one appraisal well on the Anchois field plus one optional well. Financial terms have not been divulged.

The drilling campaign in the Energean-operated Lixus licence is likely to start in the third quarter of 2024.
