Stolt-Nielsen exercises options for LNG carrier pair at Keppel

Singapore’s Keppel Offshore & Marine has announced that Stolt-Nielsen Gas has exercised options at subsidiary Keppel Singmarine for two additional small-scale dual fuel LNG carriers.

The options, worth around S$105m ($75.9m), were part of a contract signed in May 2017 for two firm and three optional vessels. The first option lapsed in November 2017.

Abu Bakar, managing director for gas & specialised vessels at Keppel O&M, commented: “We are pleased that Stolt-Nielsen Gas has exercised their options to build two additional LNG carriers. It reflects the partnership that we have built over the past year, and Keppel O&M’s ability to leverage our newbuild and LNG expertise to provide customised solutions.”

The two LNG carriers will have a capacity of 7,500 cu m and are scheduled for deliver in the fourth quarter of 2020 and first quarter of 2021.
