Subsea 7 lands Gulf of Mexico contract

Oslo-listed Subsea 7 has landed a contract worth between $50m and $150m with Talos Energy for the Sunspear development in the Gulf of Mexico.

The project in Green Canyon Block 78 involves the subsea tieback of one production well at Sunspear to the Prince platform, 12 km to the north.

Under the contract, Subsea 7 will install the flowline and related subsea equipment, with offshore work scheduled to begin later this year.

New York-listed Talos is one of the largest independent operators in the US Gulf of Mexico. The company signed a three-year deal with Subsea 7 last August to deliver new solutions for subsea engineering, construction and installation projects in the US Gulf.

“This award further strengthens our strategic partnership with Talos Energy, enabling early-stage collaboration for faster, more predictable project delivery,” said Craig Broussard, vice president for Subsea 7 Gulf of Mexico.
