Subsea 7 wins pair of contracts from Aker BP

Subsea 7 has been awarded two contracts from Aker BP in the Norwegian North Sea, at the Skogul and Valhall Flank West projects.

The contract at Skogul will see Subsea 7 perform a long-distance tie-back to Alvheim FPSO, via Vilje South field, using pipe-in-pipe technology. Project management and engineering will commence immediately, while offshore operations are scheduled for 2019.

At Valhall Flank West, the contract comprises a 4 km tie-back to the Valhall Centre including an umbilical and riser system. Offshore operations will commence next year.

Phil Simons, vice president North Sea and Canada, commented: “Our partnership with Aker BP enables Subsea 7 to engage earlier in field development, optimising design solutions and contributing to final investment decisions on marginal fields. These two contract awards demonstrate our successful way of working within the alliance partnership, providing cost effective and innovative technical solutions, along with an efficient, safe and quality focused project delivery.”

Subsea 7 described the pair of contracts collectively as “sizeable” putting the total value somewhere in the area of $50m-$150m.
