Thor Dahl sells its last boxship to MSC

Norway’s Thor Dahl Management has sold its last boxship, the 1999-built Thorswind, which it had owned in a joint venture with Ness Risan.  Thor Dahl has recently outlined plans to get into the business of zero-emission bulk carriers.

The world’s largest containerline – and biggest buyer of vintage tonnage this decade – Mediterranean Shipping Co (MSC) has been linked to the sale of the 25-year-old ship by Alphaliner, with the Soren Toft liner set to rename the German-built ship MSC Wind II when it joins the carrier’s network in Karachi next month. No price has been revealed.

Elsewhere in the container sale and purchase market authored by Alphaliner in its latest weekly report MPC Container Ships has bought two 2010-built, 4,256 teu ships called Jack London and Jonathan Swift from V Ships Hamburg for $17.6m each. The sale comes with a charter attached to CMA CGM for both ships at a little under $26,000 per day, running until the summer of 2025.
