Thoresen offloads 23-year-old bulker to Hermes Maritime

Thoresen Thai Agencies has announced the sale of 1995-built open hatch bulk carrier Thor Enterprise for $5.6m.

Data from Equasis shows the vessel changed hands late last month and is now owned by India’s Hermes Maritime Services. The vessel has been renamed Asian Enterprise.

The sale fetched a good price for Thoresen, with VesselsValue putting the market value of it at just $3.88m. However, Thoresen did pay in the region of $26m when it acquired the vessel in 2004.

The sale reduces Thoresen’s fleet to 21 vessels and continues a sell-off of older ships. Proceeds from the sales are being used for the company’s fleet renewal program, which is seeing vessels come into the fleet in the supramax segment.
