Belgium’s Transpetrol Maritime Services is bolstering its fleet with up to four LR2 tankers booked for construction in South Korea

Shipbroker Allied is quoting a price of around $137m for two firm units at Hyundai Vinashin Shipyard in Vietnam with options attached for two more units.

The firm 115,000 dwt pair will deliver in 2026 and add to the Rutten family TransPetrol’s fleet of nine vessels, most of which have been built by Hyundai.

Product tanker orders in the first half of this year have already surpassed last year’s total newbuild contracting with a 337% year-on-year rise and LR2s accounting for over 60% of the tonnage.
