US Maritime Administration offers nearly $10m in grants for shipyards

The US Department of Transportation’s Maritime Administration (MARAD) has made available $9.8m in grants for eligible small shipyards.

Grants will be awarded to between five and 12 applicants with candidates selected according to how best they will be able to use the money to foster efficiency, competitive operations and quality construction and repair work on vessels.

MARAD, whose remit is to promote waterborne transportation in the US, is accepting applications up until July 5 and the awards will be issued no later than September 5.
