Vinalines to offload 13 ships this year

State-run Vietnam National Shipping Lines (Vinalines) has earmarked 13 ships, totalling 400,000 dwt, for disposal this year.

The company said its outlay for 2016 would be more land-based, with developments at its ports surpassing capex on ships.

The Vinalines fleet has slimmed down dramatically in recent years on the back of huge losses as well as a corruption scandal.
