Wisdom Marine and Synergy launch bulk carrier joint venture

Taiwanese shipowner and operator Wisdom Marine and Singapore-based shipmanagement giant Synergy Marine Group have established a joint venture company for the Wisdom-owned dry bulk tonnage.

Wisdom Synergy Ship Management (WSSM) is headquartered in Singapore and has key operational centres in Taiwan and India.

The move follows Wisdom’s decision last year to assign Synergy to manage a section of its fleet.

Established by shipping magnate James Lan in 1999, the Taipei-based Wisdom owns more than 100 bulk carriers.

“With WSSM, we embark on a transformative journey, leveraging Synergy’s expertise to enhance our fleet’s operational safety and efficiency, underscoring our commitment to sustainable practices and the well-being of our crew,” remarked Lan.

Rajesh Unni, founder and CEO of Synergy, which manages a fleet of over 650 vessels, added: “Joining forces with Wisdom Marine Group, a leader in global shipping, is an honour. This strategic partnership is built on a strong foundation of mutual respect and common goals. We are committed to making a meaningful impact in the industry.”
