X-Press Feeders books six boxships at Zhoushan Changhong

Singapore-based feeder containership operator X-Press Feeders has signed shipbuilding contracts with China’s Zhoushan Changhong International Shipyard for the construction of six 2,700 teu containerships.

The order is X-Press Feeders’ first newbuilding order since 2012.

The vessels will be classified by DNV GL and each vessel will be capable of carrying 600 teu reefer containers.

According to Alphaliner data, X-Press Feeders currently operates a fleet of 84 vessels with a total capacity of 133,574 teu. The fleet is made up of 24 owned ships and 60 chartered ships.
