Yangzijiang secures first VLGC orders

Singapore-listed Chinese shipbuilder Yangzijiang Shipbuilding has secured new shipbuilding contracts for six vessels, made up of two VLGCs and four feeder containerships.

The two 84,000 cu m VLGCs were ordered by Shanghai Zhenrong Energy, an affiliated company of Guangdong Zhenrong Energy. The price for each vessel is about $76m and deliveries are scheduled in 2018. The deal is the first VLGC order placed with Yangzijiang, having last month entered the products sector with its first orders for MR product tankers.

Rickmers Group also placed orders for two 1,900teu containerships at the yard plus options for two more. Total value of contract is around $100m with the vessels scheduled to be delivered in 2018.
