Simpson Spence Young appoints US head of tankers

London-based shipbroking house Simpson Spence Young has announced the appointment of Kevin Wise, former president and CEO of Mjølner Shipping, as head of its US tankers division.

Wise will be based in Long Island, New York, and start the new role on January 21. He will report to Rupert Lawson, managing director of the company’s tanker division.

Wise has been president and CEO of Mjølner Shipping since 2015, and prior to this he was vice president of OSG Ship Management.

“The Americas will be a key area of future tanker trade growth, as US crude output expands boosting US Gulf exports. Crude supply flows from North and South America are increasing, especially to Asia, which, coupled with strong regional clean product demand, offers greater trading opportunities,” said Rupert Lawson.

“Kevin has a vast amount of experience in this field and we are delighted that he is joining us. His proven track record in driving change and expansion is a great match and reflects our ambitious growth plans and strategy,” Simpson Spence Young Chairman Mark Richardson added.
