BW back at DSME for LNG pair

BW LNG has placed an order for two 173,400 cu m LNG carriers at its favoured yard in South Korea, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME). Brokers Clarkson pegs the price of each ship at $183m. The pair will be delivered in the first half of 2020.

BW LNG has 18 ships in operation and now has five newbuildings to deliver, all from DSME.

The order is the first of the year for DSME and brokers suggest the price level BW has negotiated is very competitive indeed. Four years ago it paid $24m more per ship for a similar pair ordered at the same yard.
