China Merchants Holdings to change name

Hong Kong-listed China Merchants Holdings (International) has announced that the board has proposed to change the name of the company to China Merchants Port Holdings Company.

The company said it has been divesting its non-core businesses in recent years and it has been the group’s strategy to strengthen and develop its ports and port-related business both domestically and overseas through investment in new projects or acquisition of port-related assets, and the new name will better reflect the current strategy of the company.

The name change is still dependant upon approval by the shareholders of the company.
