Harren & Partner in for up to eight boxships

Germany’s Harren & Partner has emerged as the line behind an order for eight 1,400 teu ships at China’s Taizhou Kouan Shipbuilding. The order was placed in the middle of the month, but the identiy of the owner has only now come to light.

The feeder boxship is 153.7 m long, 27.6 m wide, with a 12.5 m depth. Classed by Bureau Veritas, the ships will be delivered from August 2017 to 2018. The order is for four firm ships plus 2+2 options, each ship costing nearly $24m.

The German owner now boasts a fleet of more than 50 vessels, and is also a third party manager as well as into logistics and ship financing.
