SK E&S tendering for LNG carriers

Seoul: SK E&S, an energy subsidiary of Korea’s SK Group, is tendering for four LNG carrier newbuilds to move shale gas from the US.

A number of Korea’s bigger yards are understood to be tabling bids for the tender for the ships that are needed by 2019. The vessels will be deployed to take shale from the third liquefaction train of the Freeport LNG project of the US.

SK E&S has signed a deal to transport of 2.2m tons of LNG to Korea every year for 20 years from 2019.
