Baru Delta linked to Niovis Shipping supramax

Greek owner Baru Delta Maritime is being linked to the acquisition of 2009-built Niovis Shipping supramax Oxygen.

Brokers have reported the sale of the vessel, although the buyer has yet to be confirmed. Splash understands from broking sources that Baru Delta has paid $13.5m for the ship, which VesselsValue values at $12.92m.

If the sale is confirmed, the Japanese-built vessel will add to Baru Delta’s fleet of Japanese bulkers which currently stands at one supramax and one handysize. The acquisition would be the company’s first in over four years.

Niovis Shipping currently has a fleet of 10 vessels on the water, made up of an aframax tanker and nine bulkers (six ultramaxes and three supramaxes). It appears to be exiting the supramax segment however, with two of its three supramaxes now committed for sale.
