CarVal offloads handy pair

Sources tell Splash that US-based CarVal Investors has decided to offload its last two fully-owned handysize vessels, getting rid of two modern bulkers, the 35,000 dwt Summit and sister ship Alpine, both built in 2015. Russia’s White Lakes is understood to have bought the ships.

Data from VesselsValue shows CarVal will be left with one similar aged handy bulker that it owns in a joint venture with Campbell Shipping.

CarVal Investors was founded in 1987 by Cargill. It has been a very active buyer and seller of ships in recent years with VesselsValue showing it has sold 25 ships and bought 19 vessels since 2013.
