Mainland to boost shipping development of Hong Kong and Macau

Beijing: Beijing will greatly support the development of Hong Kong and Macau as shipping hubs, said Xu Shaoshi, director of National Development and Reform Commission.

The nation will support Hong Kong’s development to be an international shipping, finance and trading hub, and will accelerate the construction of high speed rail and cross-sea bridges among Hong Kong, Macau and mainland.

“The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge is expected to launch operations by 2016,” Xu said. The regional free trade zone of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau will also be approved by central government soon to up regional development. [06/03/14]
