Dae Sun wins another 1,800 teu boxship order

South Korea’s Dae Sun Shipbuilding & Engineering has won another order for an 1,800 teu containership. Pan Continental Shipping, also from South Korea, has come in for the so-called bangkokmax vessel type. The river port at the Thai capital is draught constricted hence the design name. There is speculation in local media however that a refund guarantee has yet to be secured for this contract.

The 172 m long ship will operate between Thailand and Vietnam. All Dae Sun’s orders this year have been for 1,800 teu ships.
