Qingdao Maritime Court detains vessel involved in accident

Qingdao Maritime Court has detained general cargo vessel Xin Ri 6, after it was involved in a major accident in February.

Xin Ri 6 collided with a fishing boat off Qingdao on February 27, causing the fishing boat to sink. Fiver crew died and another five are missing presumed dead.

The detention was requested by the fishing vessel owner who also demanded the owner of Xin Ri 6 to provide a RMB5m fund guarantee.

The court detained the ship as it was about to leave Qingdao Port yesterday.
