Singapore overwhelmingly voted top international maritime centre

Singapore: Singapore has been crowned the world’s leading international maritime centre in a vote that saw a total of 483 respondents. SeaShip News launched an online survey about Singapore maritime a couple of months ago and the response has been “overwhelming”, according to editorial director, Sam Chambers.
The poll was created as one of the centerpieces of SeaShip News’s just released Singapore Market Report, a 60-page comprehensive guide to shipping and offshore in the Lion Republic available for free to read here.
A remarkable 79% of voters reckoned Singapore was the top international maritime centre in the world.
However, before authorities were able to uncork the champagne bottles to celebrate much of the rest of the poll would have given them serious pause for thought.
While Singapore may well be today’s top city in shipping it clearly faces many challenges, principally in human resources and costs as the results of the online poll make clear.
