Aker Solutions awarded second Norfolk Vanguard offshore wind contract

Aker Solutions has won another sizeable contract worth between $46m and $138m from Swedish utility Vattenfall for the Norfolk offshore wind zone development in the UK.

The Norwegian energy services giant has this time secured work on the Norfolk Vanguard East following a limited notice to proceed contract for the Norfolk Vanguard West earlier this month.

The new contract, which has a balanced risk-reward profile, includes the engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of the high-voltage, direct-current (HVDC) offshore platform.

The fabrication of the topside will similar to the Norfolk Vanguard West project be executed in a joint venture with Drydocks World Dubai, and the substructure will be fabricated at Aker Solutions’ yard in Verdal, Norway.

The project is subject to regulatory approvals and the Vattenfall’s final investment decision.

Aker Solutions said it will at this stage book an order intake reflecting the compensated work that is to be performed until the end of the second quarter of 2024.

Further to this, the company estimated a total contract value following Vattenfall’s final investment decision to be in the range of NOK6bn to NOK7bn. ($551m to $642.5m).
