Al Jaber to provide marine logistics at Abu Dhabi offshore oilfield

Abu Dhabi: Al Jaber Energy Services (AJES) has won a second contract to provide Petrofac Emirates with marine logistics services for construction work on the Upper Zakum offshore oilfield, 84 km north west of Abu Dhabi.

The new contract is worth AED460m ($125.2m) and will span 33 months of work at four artificial islands being developed by Zakum Development Company (ZADCO). Petrofac Emirates will provide a range of engineering, design, procurement and construction services for the project.

The islands will hold drilling platforms, oil production facilities and supporting infrastructure to help increase production at the Upper Zakum field to 750,000 bpd in 2015 from 550,000 bpd currently.

AJES is currently working on three other ongoing projects on the Abu Dhabi islands including another from Petrofac Emirates, Zadco and a Technip-NPCC consortium. [15/12/14]
