Atlantica Shipping takes Empire Navigation product tanker

Norway’s Atlantica Shipping has acquired 2009-built SPP MR2 product tanker MR Orestes, according to multiple brokers.

Seasure Shipbroking and Advanced Shipping & Trading are reporting the Norwegian owner has paid $19.25m to Greece’s Empire Navigation for the BWTS fitted vessel. The price is slightly higher than the $18.8m valuation put on the vessel by VesselsValue.

If confirmed, the deal will take Atlantica’s tanker fleet to a total of four vessels entirely made up of Korean-built MR2 product tankers. It also owns a supramax bulker and five small containerships.
