BG and BP in talks to revive Egyptian LNG export plant

Cairo: UK-based energy company BG Group is in talks with BP to link their two gas developments off Egypt's coast in order to restart BG's Idku LNG export plant near Alexandria, Egypt.

Reports say BG is in advanced discussions with Israel and Cyprus to import gas into Egypt to supply the Idku plant.

BG recently began talks with BP to connect infrastructure at its West Delta Deep Marine (WDDM) gas field to BP’s nearby North Alexandria licence.

Around 360 mcf of gas per day would be channelled to BG’s WDDM offshore pipeline network and the Idku plant for liquefaction for seaborne export to Asia and South America.

BG hopes the deal would allow it to boost LNG production from Idku in 2015-2016, reports say. [23/10/14]
