Bintulu begins Samalaju Port project

Kuala Lumpur: Bintulu Port Holdings Bhd has released details for the development of Samalaju Port for the bidding of contractors.

The development will include the construction of five wharves for handymax and handysize bulkers.

According to an official from Samalaju Industrial Port four handymax wharves will be constructed could handle vessels up tp 50,000 dwt.

“The five wharves are expected to be completed in 2016. By then, Samalaju Port will increase its cargo handling capacity to 18 million tonnes per annum,” the official added. [14/09/13]
