Borr Drilling bags $82m worth of jackup deals

Tor Olav Trøim’s Borr Drilling has been awarded more work for its jackup rig fleet worth about $82.2m in total, excluding mobilisation and demobilisation fees.

The Oslo and New York-listed company has secured a two-month contract extension from BW Energy for the 2011-built premium rig Norve in Gabon, keeping the unit utilised through July 2024.

The second deal is with a subsidiary of Valeura Energy in Thailand for the 2013-built Mist. The contract extension covers a firm term of 12 months and will maintain the rig contracted through August 2025.

Lastly, the company has received a binding letter of award from an undisclosed customer for the jackup Thor for work in Southeast Asia. This work scope will cover two wells, with an anticipated duration of 70 days, starting in the third quarter of 2024.

The three rigs have been fixed for a total of 495 days, and Borr said that this adds to fleet contract coverage of 87% for this year, including firm commitments and priced options.
