BW Offshore offloads FPSO for $125m

Floater specialist BW Offshore has struck a deal to sell its floating production storage and offloading vessel BW Opportunity for $125m.

The sale to an undisclosed third party is subject to conditions precedent and is expected to be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2023, BW Offshore said.

The Oslo-listed company also revealed talks with the buyer for the provision of engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning and operations and maintenance services for a five-year transitional period.

Andreas Sohmen-Pao’s BW Offshore has ten FPSOs of which nine are in operation.

The 1989-built BW Opportunity is the former FPSO Cidade de Sao Mateus, which suffered an explosion onboard off Brazil in February 2015, that lead to the death of nine people and nearly 30 injured. The unit is currently located in Singapore.
