BW orders VLCC pair at DSME

Singapore’s BW Group has placed orders to build a pair of VLCCs at Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME), Korean local media reports.

The contract for the 318,000 dwt vessels is worth a total of $179m and delivery is scheduled during 2018.

BW currently has ten vessels contracted at DSME.

Separately, on Friday DSME announced that a $1.41bn ordered placed in 2013 for an oil production platform has been cancelled by Norwegian oil company Statoil. Construction had yet to commence on the platform.
