Call for greater training collaboration between Indonesia and Singapore

Jakarta: Indonesia’s Director General of Sea Transportation Capt Bobby R Mamahit has held discussions with his Singaporean counterpart, Andrew Tan, the chief executive of the Maritime and Port Authority (MPA).

Mamahit called for greater collaboration between the two bodies, especially in the field of training.

"We hope that the cooperation in the field of training not only can improve the professionalism of the officers, but also can build a common understanding for the promotion of safety, security, and efficiency of shipping," said Mamahit.

The MPA delegation was given an outline of the new Indonesian government’s plans to develop the archipelago’s maritime infrastructure, the so called Maritime Highway programme.  [28/11/14]
