Cattle offloaded from broken down livestock carrier

Around 1,800 cattle were unloaded from a 17-year-old livestock carrier over the weekend at the Australian port of Darwin.

The animals had spent six nights onboard the docked Nine Eagle vessel following a major engine failure.

The cattle, who were bound for Indonesia, are now at a quarantine yard south of Darwin, while urgent spare parts for the broken ship engine are sought.
