Celsius takes Hansa chemical tanker

Norway’s Hansa Tankers has sold an eight-year-old Japanese chemical tanker to Celsius Shipping, according to broker reports. The Shin Kurushima-built 19,999 dwt Mid Fighter was sold for around $21m.

Having resolved a shipbuilding cancellation dispute with a Chinese yard this June, Celsius has been busy eyeing prospects in the S&P markets.

In July, it snapped up an ultramax bulker resale.

Celsius acts as a platform for investors to come in on ship acquisition deals with a focus on specialized tonnage. Its investments to date have been centred on chemical and product tankers as well as LPG tankers with dry bulk only coming into play recently.
