Chartworld heads to China for up to six bulkers

Brokers are linking Greece’s Chartworld Shipping with an upcoming contract signing for an ultramax splash. Chartworld is understood to have reached the letter of intent stage with Chinese yard Xiangyu for two firm plus four option 63,500 dwt bulkers. The firm ships are scheduled for 2020 delivery and the price reached is believed to be $24m per unit.

Chartworld has been busy expanding of late, becoming among the most consistent buyers of new bulkers, predominantly in China, since the start of 2017, making the most of the low prices on offer.
